BIOGRAPHY
How It All Began
Jon Platt was born in England and moved with his family to Canada when he was 11. From an early age Jon demonstrated his artistic talents, inherited from his mother and grandfather, whose commissioned works have been on public display throughout England. Jon continued to excel in art throughout his life and continued to develop in various styles. For several years he created murals for churches and foreign missions. His works also included illustrations for various programs in Mexico and Rwanda.
Launching A New Venture
Upon returning to Canada from Rwanda, Jon, his wife and their son Caleb moved to Sorrento, B.C. where Jon
had the opportunity to apprentice under a well known carver. Many were amazed
at how quickly Jon developed an eye for relief carving and his own style rapidly began to emerge.
This venture would marry Jon's life long artistic talents and his long term enjoyment of the look and feel of wood.
In November of 2004 Jon and his wife Lorna launched their new business, Artwood Carvings. In 2006, on their son Caleb's birthday, they had their second child Grace.

They would love to design and carve a one of a kind piece that you would be proud to display in your home.
